8 – Authorisation and roles

Description

Authorisation chains are used to determine the steps it takes for a user to have a request authorised. Some companies may require mid-management authorisation only, some leave types may need to be authorised by someone more senior, and some may require a combination of their line manager and a member of the senior management team to authorise a particular type of leave. These settings can be specified in the settings of the system. Roles in edays allows for different users to be able to view certain areas of edays (as an example, access to the admin panel of edays).

This video shows the flexibility of these sections and how to create authorisation chains, roles, and how to apply the default settings built in the system:

Example Configurations

Ulrich Enterprises have a policy in which line managers can approve annual leave requests for users in which they are assigned as the authorizer. Settings assigned by the administrator for maternity, paternity adoption, and civil duties have been assigned an authorisation template which is first approved at management level, and then must be approved by a senior manager.

Antoine works in the customer service department and is submitting a request for 2 days via the edays system. His line manager approves the request as there are no interfering events or other staff on annual leave for those two days.

Cyril and his partner are about to adopt a baby and the company policy is to give 1 month of adoption leave. Cyril submits his request, which cannot be authorised by his line manager alone. The senior manager assigned in this request chain receives and accepts the leave request.
