Survitec is the world’s largest manufacturer and supplier of life rafts, Marine Evacuation Systems (MES) and offshore rental PPE.
They are a leading supplier of fire solutions to the maritime industry and hold a market-leading position for Pilot Flight Equipment in the aerospace & defence market. They are a global leader in the maritime, defence & government, aerospace, and energy markets. Survitec have over 3,000 employees across 96 countries and have a history spanning over 168 years.
With well-known brands such as Eurovinil (Italy), Crewsaver (UK), and Hansen Protection (Norway), they needed a truly global system to support their global workforce.
As a global enterprise organisation with a multitude of employees, often working different patterns and contracts, Survitec need to ensure they have smooth and efficient processes in place. When they found themselves juggling a number of different software solutions, they came to edays and Cornerstone on Demand to help them consolidate everything.

THE CHALLENGE
As a large enterprise made up of a number of mergers and acquisitions, Survitec were a victim of disjointed processes and a lack of visibility.
Without one central system to manage their team, lots of departments and countries were being managed differently.
Some had a software solution which was often manual and clunky and didn’t meet their requirements, while some teams had no software to manage things at all and were dealing with the hassle of spreadsheets and paper files.
Survitec and their People team were struggling without visibility, and weren’t able to run reports on headcount, entitlements or anything else they needed to.

We had a variety of ways of managing time and attendance before, ranging from a software system to nothing at all. The problem was they were all very old, and very clunky; there was no consistency really. Having different types of workers as well meant we had to manage lots of different rules around holiday and overtime, which was becoming pretty complex without an automated way to do it.
THE SOLUTION
Having identified that a harmonised HRIS was needed within their business, Survitec onboarded Cornerstone On Demand. As a partner with a pre-built integration, Survitec also brought edays on as their absence management solution.
With our software, Survitec were able to streamline their approach entirely. The connection with Cornerstone not only allowed for a smooth onboarding process, but it also means that data added into one system is automatically transferred into the other, reducing the need for lots of manual data entry work.

It allowed us to have a central point where we can record data, and manage absence, which was completely different from what we had before. Suddenly it didn’t matter where in the world someone’s manager was, they can look at requests and entitlements. It was so helpful! And from a global point of view, it allowed us to tailor it to exactly what we needed, and to very easily report on data.
THE IMPACT
With edays, Survitec have been able to consolidate their processes and move their People agenda forwards. By being able to easily manage users in different countries, at different bases, and on different contracts, it’s removed the stress from absence management.
It’s also boosted employee engagement by reducing errors, giving visibility to employees and reducing the need for people managers to act as a middle man with the data. Survitec have been able to further boost this by easily implementing policies such as giving everyone their birthday off.

It gives people a lot more visibility, they can access everything easily from wherever they are and it makes reporting so much more accessible. Implementing edays has also had a really positive impact on other areas of our business too. Since overtime and holiday calculations are so much more accurate now, it means fewer problems with payroll each month.
