Sytner: Providing visibility across a multi-site operation
Sytner is the largest overall automotive retailer in Europe and they represent a number of premium car brands including Mercedes-Benz.
OVERVIEW
Sytner is the UKs leading retailer of prestige cars and the largest overall automotive retailer in Europe.
The group holds dealerships across the UK and represents a number of premium car brands including Mercedes-Benz.
Since Sytner Mercedes-Benz is an organisation made up of a lot of different sites, groups, and teams, they were struggling with the disjointed approach that can come with that. In introducing edays, they were hoping to unite their processes and create a centralised point of data for their People team.

THE CHALLENGE
As an enterprise split across multiple sites, a challenge for Sytner Mercedes-Benz and other businesses like them is trying to ensure it operates as one, rather than as separate functions.
When it came to absence and leave, Sytner were struggling with their sites operating as separate functions and there was no centralising of information.
This led to a lack of visibility, and each separate site had their own challenges with absence and leave. Some were managing it with very basic software systems, while others were doing it completely manually with paper and spreadsheets.

It was pretty inconsistent how we managed holiday and absence. It was very disjointed and the teams were working a little in silo. From a data point of view, across the different groups and businesses, we had absolutely no visibility. So reporting was very difficult!
THE SOLUTION
Sytner Mercedes-Benz needed to bring the full division together and ensure the team had the same smooth processes across all sites.
For the People team, they also needed to gain visibility so that they could report on key metrics such as absence rates and remaining entitlements.
As an organisation made up of mergers and acquisitions, Sytner Mercedes-Benz needed a specialist absence management system that could handle complexity, such as employees from different sites or on different contracts having different entitlements. While they considered a number of software providers, edays was the one that was able to match up to their requirements.

The rollout of edays was really straight forward and we felt supported. Having the team help us with implementation and being on hand with technical advice was really appreciated. And in terms of being able to easily handle the different working terms and conditions of different sites, it’s been great to have the support on managing this with the various templates and settings.
THE IMPACT
Since implementation, edays has had a big impact on Sytner Mercedes-Benz from their senior management, to their employees.
From a higher up strategic level, they’ve been able to gain valuable insights, and have been able to better balance colleague availability with customer demand over time. The People team have found managing absence a lot easier and the access to data and reporting has given them a lot more confidence too.
From an employee standpoint, they’ve gained more control over managing their holidays, and edays has given them a lot more flexibility. The mobile app has been particularly popular and the team all find the software easy to use.

Implementing edays helped us to put everything in one place, from sickness absence to maternity and bereavement. It really transformed how we manage everything. We really like the reporting section in particular, and being able to build our own reports is a really great feature.
