25 – Public Holiday Proration

Description

Public Holiday Proration is a feature that automatically calculates Public Holiday Entitlements at the start of each year, and then deducts the correct number of days, or hours, from a users entitlement. It’s primarily used for part time staff members, however it can be set up globally , for all users, just to make the set up of it quicker and easier. The way it works is it will take the number of Public Holidays in that holiday year, times it by the users FTE, and then deduct the correct value based on how many Public Holidays fall on working days for that user. If it needs to deduct more Public Holidays than the user is entitled to, then any additional days would be deducted from their annual leave balance. In contrast to that, if a user doesn’t work Monday’s for example, the system would only deduct around 1 or 2 Public Holidays for that year, and therefore they would be able to spend the extra days by using the normal Holiday absence type. This simply provides the most fair solution for part time users, and how many days they get off per year.
