Within the UK, PharmaLex had limited absence management functionality that was held within their finance solution. With an urgent need to replace the legacy system during a broader technology transition, they turned to edays to help transform and future-proof their absence management.

THE CHALLENGE

Before implementing edays, PharmaLex relied on the absence management functionality embedded in their ERP finance system.

However, as part of a large-scale technology transformation, this system was being phased out, and HR needed a modern, dedicated solution delivered to a tight deadline.

The previous tool was a little cumbersome and lacked crucial features, forcing manual workarounds for tracking sickness records, medical certificates, and employee absences. Line managers had little visibility, and the HR team had to regularly supply ad hoc data.

The old system didn’t have the functionality, so managers weren’t aware of the return to work forms, the certificates, the medical certificates… it was all done as a very manual process. They didn’t have the history of their employees’ sickness that they have now.

THE SOLUTION

With a tight deadline, PharmaLex selected edays mainly thanks to our rapid implementation window.

They also liked the intuitive design, and seamless compatibility with other systems in their growing tech stack, including Workday.

edays was rolled out quickly, with support from our onboarding team to help configure the system and manage the data migration. Annie and her team immediately noticed how easy it was to use, and loved the colour-coded view of absences. The difference that edays made to PharmaLex was noticed straight away, by both HR and employees.

THE IMPACT

Since rolling out edays, PharmaLex has seen big improvements in the way they manage their absence data and support their people managers.

The HR team now has access to real-time, automated reports and can schedule updates weekly or monthly without manual processes, freeing up critical resources. People managers also now have visibility of their teams’ absences, medical documents, and entitlement balances, supporting better and more proactive people management.
