Annual leave

Employees get 15 days’ paid leave a year, so long as they’ve been in the role for at least 1 year.

Sick leave

If an employee falls sick, they must provide a medical certificate within 2 days to be eligible for sick pay. Employees receive no sick pay for the first 3 days of their sick leave, and any sick pay they receive from the 4th day of their illness might be capped.

Maternity and paternity leave

Women can take up to 30 weeks of paid maternity leave. New fathers can take up to 5 days of paid paternity leave. However, after 7 weeks following the birth, mothers can choose to transfer some or all of their maternity leave to the father. Mothers of children aged 18 or younger can take up to 10 days’ parental leave a year. While this leave is paid, employers tend to grant it on the understanding that the employee will make up the time later on.
