Annual leave

Indonesian employees get 12 days’ paid leave a year after they’ve been in their role for 12 consecutive months. They must take at least 6 days’ leave each year. Any leave they don’t use expires after 6 months. Employees are entitled to sick leave so long as they can provide a doctor’s note, which often advises on how much time the employee should take off. Employees get 100% of their pay for their first four months of illness. This drops to 75% for the following four months, and to 50% for the four months after that.

Employees can also take 2 days’ paid bereavement leave following the death of their partner, child, child-in-law, parent, or parent-in-law.

Sick leave

If the employee still needs to take sick leave after this period, the employer must pay them 25% of their wages until they’re able to replace them.

Maternity and paternity leave

Mothers can take 3 months maternity leave on full pay – 1.5 months in the prenatal period, and 1.5 months after birth. Fathers can take up to 2 days’ leave after the child’s born. In Indonesia, employees are also entitled to 2 days’ paid parental leave for certain events involving their children, including circumcision, Baptism, marriage, and death.
