Additional information
Annual leave
After 6 months in a role, employees may take 15 days’ paid annual leave. This extends to 30 days of paid annual leave after the employee’s been in the role for more than a year. The government covers sick pay at 60% of an employee’s regular wages.
Sick leave
Sick leave commences from the third consecutive day of an employee’s illness. However, if the employee has to go to the hospital, then this 3 day waiting period does not apply.
Maternity and paternity leave
Mothers get 12 weeks of maternity leave at full pay. Their employer pays 60% of maternity pay, with social security making up the rest. There are no laws for shared parental leave, but new fathers can take up to 5 days of paid paternity leave.
